(www.kidsfirstfundguyana.org) Kids First Fund is a not for profit, non-governmental organisation established since February 2000 by Guyana’s First Lady Varshanie Jagdeo. The objective is to fund emergency medical treatment for poor and needy children in Guyana, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. There are no administration costs and KFF guarantee that all funds collected goes directly to the cause of saving the lives of sick children. Kids First Fund Heart 2 Heart – Save A Life Campaign was launched recently and on 20 September 2005 four children: Anjani Pritipaul aged 13, Casey Clifton aged 10, Romel Hassan aged 5 and Premdai Harrichand aged 12 were taken to India and were the first beneficiaries of the Heart 2 Heart programme. Their heart operations were successful and they have all returned to Guyana with a chance of leading normal lives. Currently fifteen more children have been identified for heart surgery and the aim is to take them to India by February 2006.
